The new Senior Mental Health Practitioner role is an exciting opportunity to supervise those delivering evidence-based early intervention for children and young people in schools in East Sussex. They will also have some clinical time to utilise their own therapeutic skills. These posts are part of the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) programme which is a shared initiative between the NHS and the Department for Education. There are three MHSTs in East Sussex and we are recruiting two Senior Mental Health Practitioners to each team to start in January 2020. The role will be working alongside community partners and developing relationships between the new MHST and educational settings.
The MHSTs are located in The Havens (the coastal strip comprising the Newhaven, Peacehaven area), South Downs (including Eastbourne, Hailsham & Seaford) and Bexhill and Rother and will support a number of schools in each area.
We are looking for practitioners with experience in a setting where children’s mental health has been the primary focus. These posts are open to professionals with a variety of relevant backgrounds. They will be working with children and young people with mild to moderate mental health issues.
Specific supervisory training for these posts will be provided in collaboration with the University of Sussex.
We welcome applications from those seeking part-time positions or who want to work flexibly. We are recruiting to 6 full-time equivalent posts and looking to fulfil all the requirements of the role across a number of post-holders.
